The Role
Collectively the Chair and Trustees are responsible for agreeing Bees Abroad鈥檚 strategy; for overseeing its affairs and the good stewardship of its
finances & resources; for monitoring, reviewing and evaluating its work; and for overseeing good governance throughout its activities
Specifically, the role of the Board of Trustees is to:
路 ensure that Bees Abroad has a clear vision and strategic direction
路 ensure that Bees Abroad meets its statutory purposes and retains its ethos and values
路 ensure that Bees Abroad complies with its legal and regulatory requirements
路 act as guardians of the charity鈥檚 assets, both tangible and intangible, and ensure the financial stability of the organisation
路 agree performance targets for the Chief Executive
路 act as informed and influential ambassadors for Bees Abroad
路 act in Bees Abroad鈥檚 best interest, with reasonable care and skill; contributing individual skills and experience with professional appplication
The Chair will, in addition:
路 ensure that the trustee body functions effectively, meetings are led inclusively, and the board carries out its duties
路 support and supervise the Chief Executive and act as a channel of communication between board and staff
路 act as a figurehead or spokesperson where required
Time Commitment:
Trustees are expected to give time and energy to the role, not only in terms of attendance at the Trustee meetings and other Bees Abroad meetings but also in preparing for meetings and in engaging with life within Bees Abroad. The expected time commitment is a minimum of one day a month; with the Chair role being significantly more.
Term of Appointment:
This is a three-year term, with the possibility to be renewed for two further terms of three years
